Training Course on the 1999 FIDIC Contracts is designed as the first model in our comprehensive FIDIC Contracts training courses. Participants are provided with fundamental understanding and practical use of 1999 FIDIC Contract in Vietnam.
Despite the 1999 FIDIC Contracts being in use in international engineering and construction projects, and remaining somewhat new to most Vietnamese practitioners, the application, thereof, is diverse and varies greatly from case to case and is quite far from what was supposed to be a benchmark for the rest of the world to follow.
This is the reason why comprehensive and practical training from CNCs extensively experienced practitioners, have humbly and painstakingly studied the 1999 FIDIC Contracts to ensure that detrimental errors are avoided.
CNC takes pride, not only in their efforts, but also as a leader and pioneer in being the sole law firm in Vietnam that is capable of providing dynamic training through practical use of 1999 Contracts to major project stakeholders.
Some of our esteemed clients include Hoa Binh Construction Group (HBC), Cofico, Kurihara, Eurowindow, An Phong, AltusGroup, BKAsia Pacific, Boho Decor, Dai Dung Corp, Dinh Tan Cons, VDB-Loi Myanmar, PVgas, ThysenGroup.

Recent Training Courses on the 1999 FIDIC Contracts
Here are some overviews of our recent training courses on Practical Use of the 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contracts:
The 1999 FIDIC Contracts Training Course at Kurihara Vietnam Co., Ltd. The first course was conducted at the Saigon Office in late 2015. The course provided Kurihara staff with a plethora of knowledge and experience in preparing a a FIDIC Construction Contract, as well as provided them with the necessary tools to manage the contract effectively. Ultimately, a couple of months later (post training), CNC was invited to conduct another training course for Kurihara’s Hanoi Office. We are proud to have been retained by Kurihara as their first-tier legal counsel for a variety of other legal matters.
Early 2017, CNC was invited by Construction Joint Stock Company No. 1 (COFICO) to conduct a 1999 FIDIC Contracts Training Course, not only for COFICO itself, but for the entirety of its subsidiary and affiliates. As a general contractor having been recognized by clients for a long time, COFICO gathered their senior staff members – those who have had experience with FIDIC contracts themselves for quite a long time – but were quite impressed by what CNC introduced. The introduction and presentation from CNC provided them with a fresh and thorough perspective of what is involved in professional contract management. It did help them to combine their extensive experience with substantial law and contract knowledge in order to better manage FIDIC Contracts in the future.
Whilst still being engaged in the COFICO training course, CNC was invited by Altus Group to conduct a 1999 FIDIC Contracts Course for their Saigon office. This was the second consultant in Saigon inviting CNC to hold this course for their staff, following BK Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., – the first consultant engaging CNC.
CNC surprisingly accepted an invitation from BK Asia Pacific-Saigon, to speak at an in-house training course for their senior staff. This wasn’t just any ordinary invitation, because BK Asia Pacific is, among others, being recognised as a top tier engineering consultant in the region, having in-depth insight and experts in this field but held utmost confidence in CNC to add valued-added advice for the Vietnamese practice. Yes, in fact, CNC has provided an exceptional training course to help BK Asia Pacific broaden their knowledge, common practice, and local law whilst practicing in Vietnam.
CNC’s expertise in this field is acknowledged and recognised by VBD-loi in Myanmar, a reputed law firm with offices in Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Vietnam. The course was held in July 2016 in Yangon, Myanmar for their twelve senior associates and partners. It helps VDB-Loi to maintain their first tier ranking in the real estate and construction sectors in Myanmar – a potential market boom thanks to Myanmar’s significant efforts to develop their country.
Eurowindow, the largest façade contractor in Vietnam is a nationwide supplier of façade construction services and glass doors. In 2018, CNC was appointed by Eurowindow to provide the 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contracts course to an assembly of more than 70 participants – most being 1999 FIDIC experienced senior staff to a certain degree. Two courses were facilitated in two separate sessions – one in Da Nang and one in Ha Noi. The engagement originated as a result of CNC’s support to Eurowindow in negotiating and concluding two of the largest nominated subcontracts in Hoi an – at the time – which required Eurowindow’s staff to be professionally trained by experienced law firms to manage the project’s requirements.
In 2019, CNC was awarded the opportunity to provide the 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contracts course to AA Corporation for more than 20 participants working in various projects, board of directors, and legal professionals. AA Corporation is a leading interior contractor, responsible for developing and executing iconic projects throughout Asia – including Vietnam.
In 2020, Bohor Décor, once a member of Coteccons Group, invited CNC to introduce 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contracts to a staff of more than 20. This is the second largest interior contractor that has given serious attention to the practical use of 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contracts in Vietnam. In fact Bohor Décor, acknowledges their position as a nominated subcontractor in large-scale projects in which payment is only to be made following the Contractor’s receipt of payment from the Employer.
30 participants (online and offline) of the rising star general contractor, CentralCons benefited from CNC’s 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contracts in 2018. The course provided participants with the necessary skills and awareness for applying 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contracts in Vietnam. Thus, CentralCons has been growing at a very fast and sustainable pace.
In 2020, the senior staff – required to be thoroughly knowledgeable of 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contracts course – of Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Zone based in Nghe An attended CNC’s in-house course to implement their ambitious plans of expanding industrial zones throughout Vietnam – in Binh Duong, Quang Ngai, Nghe An, Bach Ninh, and Hai Phong provinces.
Among these external training courses, CNC did hold more than 40-training sessions at CNC’s office in Saigon. Some of the most reputed construction contractors and project developers – including PVGas, FICO-Corea, Lecade, ThyssenKrupp Elevator, Hoa Binh Group, and Dat Xanh Group sent their staff to attend and participate in these courses.
