A true boutique property law firm

The idea of establishing a boutique law firm dedicated to serving project stakeholders’ needs encouraged me and our team to take the entrepreneur of leaving Hoa Binh Construction and Real Estate Group where I assumed the Contracts Manager position to establish CNC in 2013 and to make it today a few Vietnamese firms capable of providing in-depth legal services exclusively in the areas of real estate, construction, infrastructure and hotel management.

CNC initially meant Counsel in Construction but now CNC can be known as Counsel in Contracts, Construction through its Cooperation, Collaboration and Commitment to providing Clients the highest possible Consistent quality Services through well Communication. It reflects how we manage ourselves to be a true boutique property law firm focusing on our collective experience and knowledge to deliver exceptional services to our clients.

This is also the reason why we successfully cultivate lasting relationships with our clients and other professionals who work with us.

Despite much has been changed within the firm, our dedication to remaining a true boutique law firm allows us to provide clients with a consistently high level of specialised services and responsiveness.

01 - Client Centric Approach

CNC’s business model is simple; keep the client at the forefront of everything we do.  We genuinely take the time to get to know and understand our clients business to establish where and in which way to assist clients in a way that provides exceptional value.

While much has changed within the firm, the philosophy of putting the client to the forefront and being the center of everything we do is still a core part of the principles and values of the firm; the mantra “solutions, not problems” is one in which our people are well versed.

02 - Billable not work

Our attorneys are not subjected to aggressive billable hour requirements, and DO NOT delegate half their caseload to “green” inexperienced associates, and then double or triple charge for a review or re-review of their work. Attentive return of client calls is an essential part of our modus operandi – we do not wait until the next day to return client calls.

Once retained, Clients pay reasonable rates through our creative billing arrangements, from lawyers who have an in depth understanding the client’s industry and attributes that compliment their unique organization.

At CNC, Clients are no longer considered or viewed as legal fees. We offer our clients various pricing structures, such as successful fee/incentive fees upon completion; capped monthly retainer payments or shared interest gained.

Demonstrated below is one of the typical fee structures that we offer. Our fee structures are entirely customizable to meet clients’ various needs.

Combined Fees

Combined Fees are comprised of two parts:

  • Administrative Fees
  • Incentive Fees.

Administrative Fees as its name reflects, are allocated toward the administrative activities that our attorneys will perform during the entire process. It involves our attorneys working with clients’ partner(s), related third-parties, competent authorities, and/or making copies of necessary documents.

The incentive fee is an reward for our attorney if and only if they could eventually bring benefits to our clients. Typical benefits includes those debt claimed, extension of time claims granted, additional Costs paid, and/or interests accrued.

Incentive Fees

The incentive fee varies greatly from case to case depending on the nature of the legal issues, the clients’ position.

Under certain circumstances where Clients are in a financial trouble or in need of securing a financial assistance from lawyers, CNC is happy to assist Clients by advancing its own costs in securing Clients’ interest.

One common situation upon which incentive fee is applicable is where Clients engage us to secure not only an outstanding debt amount to be secured but also a potential amount of interest to be accrued due to Clients’ partner failure to pay in time.

The incentive fee arrangement is getting more important in today world’s uncertain and is very much welcomed by Clients recently.

03 - One-stop legal service provider

Being the leading expert in our areas practice genuinely captures our Clients interest. Our vision is to provide Clients with one-stop services in which our clients are not out wandering around and wasting precious time to find a legal team suitable for their legal impediments.

Once we have a clear perspective of investors, we endeavor to offer high quality and diverse legal services, establishing special purpose mediums (project companies), project legal, project financing, various construction to sales contracts (Sales and Purchases Agreements, Deposit Agreements, Lease Agreements etc.), hotel management agreements, and dispute settlements.

CNC is particularly well-known for its expertise in FIDIC Contracts and has successfully introduced international construction contract standards to most Vietnamese practitioners.

CNC was built by an energetic team of experienced lawyers who previously practiced law in a variety of key roles and endeavored to develop relationships with potential clients such as Hoa Binh Construction Group, Vietnam Prosperity Bank, and Vietnam Infrastructure Development. Our lawyers’ primary areas of practice cover exactly what our clients typically expect.

05 - Results Speak for themselves

Our ranking is not our cup of tea, and it certainly does not define who we are and what we do – we are much more than a number or a simple adjective.

Despite the growth of our firm and those competitors who have grown into large law firms, CNC continues to maintain a traditional viewpoint that we believe meets and/or exceeds the rankings. Since our inception in 2013, we have not joined in any competition to obtain a specific rank by any editorial journals. Rather, we continuously improve our services to the satisfaction of our clients and navigate our clients’ business in their best interests.
